postheadericon How to Hold A New Pet Hamster

If you have gone and bought a hamster recently, you may not know how to hold a hamster. As with any pet animal, these tiny animals are a big responsibility for young children. They may be a tiny responsibility, but they are lovable creatures for young children, and make wonderful first pets. They are also excellent pets for families who may not have a lot of space for other pets, such as dogs or cats.

Before you hold your new pet hamster, he or she needs to be trained. You should not immediately hold your hamster after you have bought him. You have to train a hamster before holding it. As with other animals hamsters need to get accustomed to you and your smells.

When you get your first hamster, you want to offer it a treat and let it smell your hand. After the hamster gets comfortable with you and your smells, you may try to train him to do other things. You can try different exercises, providing the hamster with a reward every time it completes a task. You can try making an obstacle course for your new friend to complete. At the end of the course, you can reward him with a treat and he will want to complete more obstacles for you.

There are different things you may train it to do, like obstacles, exercises and games. You must train it first. Before holding it, reward it and let it smell your hand. Your hamster will willing craw in your hand for a treat. While holding the hamster, you want to grasp him from the bottom of his stomach, gently holding him in your hand cupped like a U. Once the hamster gets used to being held and rewarded for tasks it completes, it will want to be held and complete more tasks for you.

It is important to hold and socialize with your new hamster. Hamsters are social animals and enjoy being held and playing for rewards. You may also want to have an exercise wheel and some toys for it to play with. Your hamster will appreciate the toys you give him to play with and it will provide you with hours of fun playing and socializing.
